Anahita Ancient Hill, also called “Sareghin Zartosht”, lies in the west of Sarein city.A lot of objects have been found from excavations which date back to 1000 to 2000 B.C. The Anahita temple used to be the place where Zoroastrians used to worship god, and near it the “Sari-Ghiye-Yeylagh” lies which was the summer resort for Sassanid kings. The Anahita temple was long used as a mosque by local people.
It is believed that there are different tunnels underneath the hill that are directly connected to the city center of Sarein. Unfortunately in 4 decades ago, in order to build a drinking water source on a hill the remains of the castle walls and building on the hill was destroyed.
